Our outstanding volunteers made this a great day for Elkdom and we were able to fundraise for all the Elks and local charities. Memorial Day Event at Eternal Valley
May 27, 2024 – Every year on Memorial Day, the SCV Veteran’s Memorial Committee puts on a stirring presentation of remembrance of the true meaning of this holiday. This year the theme was recognizing Women in the service. After opening remarks by our own Bob Keller, the keynote speaker and lady veteran told the history of women serving in our armed services. Two ladies from our lodge, Jeanette Fisher and Ilia Piedra, joined several other Santa Clarita female veterans representing women who have served our Country. Our Exalted Ruler and First Lady Wayne and Linda Edwards attended along with several others from our lodge. Congressman Mike Garcia was also in attendance & spoke. This event is always standing room only and includes a fly-over (this year it was an F-18), a large band, a high school chorale, bagpipes, and many other special features and speakers, followed by a reading of the names on the Veteran’s wall. Truly a very special community event.
Elks Support Memorial Day Preparations at Eternal Valley
May 25, 2024 – Our annual support of Memorial Day at Eternal Valley … on the Saturday before, over 600 Scouts and Young Marines place flags on the approximately 7000 gravesites of our Veterans. Volunteers from our lodge cook & serve hotdogs with chips, cookies and sodas to the youth and their leaders. This gives the Elks an opportunity to support the community with our drug awareness program and give away basketballs to a few of the youth.
Ritual Team Competition 2024-2025
Our Ritual team won the Metropolitian District competition, then went on to the California – Hawaii CHEA competition where they won entry to the Final Four.
While they came in at a very close 2nd place (by 1/4 point), they almost swept the All-State awards! Congratulations to our Corps of Officers on their collective performances and all that impressiveness for our future lodge initiations.

Michael Mazzetti
VOLUNTEER IMPACT: For nearly three decades, Michael R. Mazzetti has provided invaluable services to the Santa Clarita Valley through SCVTV and other organizations. As the station’s longest-serving volunteer, he’s personally been responsible for the engineering and directing for thousands of locally-produced shows. He’s responsible for the technical production of the Saugus Strong Vigil livestream in 2019 which reached over 200,000 viewers all over the country. He’s also responsible for the annual State of the City and Fourth of July Parade productions as well as the day-to-day maintenance and support of the station’s equipment. Mike’s support has enabled SCVTV to serve hundreds of local nonprofits, too. Mazzetti has trained hundreds, if not thousands of production and media students — helping to inspire generations of media professionals who serve in one of Santa Clarita’s most booming industries. Without Mike’s volunteer service, SCVTV wouldn’t be nearly as impactful of an organization as it is today.
Steve Corn
VOLUNTEER IMPACT: Steve joined Rotary in 1991, when his father and longtime Rotarian, Ron, sponsored Steve for membership. Since that time, Steve has supported Rotary fund-raisers such as the July 4 Pancake Breakfast, the Rotary Peach Cobbler Booth at the city’s annual Cowboy Festival, the fund-raising for the Downtown Newhall Clock, and the Veteran’s Food Packaging Event while also serving a Club Service Chair, Secretary, and President. He is also a member of the Newhall Rotary Community Foundation board, and is a member of Rotary International’s Paul Harris Society. He has lent his culinary expertise to Rotary events such as serving as co-chair of the January SCV Rotary Charity Chili Cook-Off.
Michael Fisher
VOLUNTEER IMPACT: “In 1987, Mike moved from New Jersey to Santa Clarita with his family. He graduated from California Lutheran University in 1990 with a BS degree in Business Management and raised his son Garrett, as a single father, with the support of his family and friends. Together, they played baseball at Canyon Country Little League for 10 years and were charter members for Boy Scout Troop 2379. In 2011, Mike’s journey to the Board of Directors (BOD) of Samuel Dixon Family Health Center (SDFHC) began after having been introduced to the agency by Ed Bolden, who at the time was on the SDFHC BOD. Like so many in our community, Mike was unable to say no to Mr. Bolden, and volunteered as a member of the BOD. Mike married his wife Jeannette in 2019 and between them they have four children and four grandchildren. Mike, Jeanette, and his close family continue to live in Santa Clarita near each other and feel blessed to be able to do so. They have continued their efforts to give back to the City of Santa Clarita, the community they love, so that others may have the same opportunity.”

Installation of Officers
March 18, 2024 -Santa Clarita Emblem Club #459 Annual Installation of Officers
On Monday night, March 18, the Santa Clarita Emblem Club #459 conducted their annual Installation of Officers. 19 members stepped up to lead the club into a new year. Past President of the California, Nevada, Hawaii State Association of Emblem Clubs Simone Swanson, a 4 time Past President of the Santa Clarita Emblem Club was installed for a record 5th time. Anita Macheda, Past Supreme President conducted the impressive ceremony. Attending the ceremony were members from many Emblem Clubs throughout Southern California. Past Supreme President Julie Swaggerty, from Arizona, also attended the event.
The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge #2379 hosted the event and Exalted Ruler Glenn Daniel, and First Lady Laura took part in the ceremony. Esteemed Leading Knight Wayne Edwards, Exalted Ruler Elect, was in attendance with his wife Linda being installed as an Officer of the Emblem Club. California-Hawaii Elks Association Past President Jay Larkins and his First Lady Ginger, a Past President of Emblem Club #459, took part in the evenings festivities. Elks dignitaries present included Past District Deputies Larry Lousberg and Kelvin Swanson. Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Elks Lodge Jamie McKenna was also in attendance. Lancaster Elks Lodge Past Exalted Ruler Bill Brehm also attended the installation.
The event also let the members and guests know that Emblem Club #459 serves the Santa Clarita community by highlighting the 20 plus charities that the Emblem Club donated money and time to support in the Santa Clarita Valley. It was also highlighted that the club awards four $1,000 scholarships each year.

Community Awards Night
March 11, 2024 – On Monday March 11 Santa Clarita Elks Lodge #2379 Exalted Ruler Glenn Daniel hosted the 2024 Santa Clarita Elks Lodge #2379 Community and Lodge Awards Night. There were over 150 members and guests in attendance at the Elks Lodge, located on Sierra Highway in Canyon Country. Honorees included California Highway Patrol Motor Officer Elijah Latham, Los Angeles County Fire Department Captain Kevin Garcia, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputies Daniel Haven and Randy Austin, Santa Clarita Senior Center Volunteer Beth Merrick and Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Head of Pharmacy Ohannes Kandilian. All of the honorees, and their families and friends, were hosted for dinner, presented plaques marking the occasion, and thanked for their service to the Santa Clarita Valley communities.
The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge also awarded $1,000 scholarships to West Rach High School Seniors Alice Xie and Ark Buyan. These Scholars won the Annual Elks Lodge Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest locally, advanced to and won the District Contest, advanced to and won the State Contest and are now competing in the National Contest in Chicago for the top prize awards of $50,000 each.
The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge also honored, and Thanked, the 22 BINGO Volunteers that host bingo players from the community Every Thursday Night and Sunday Afternoon at the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge.
The Elks Years of Service Pins, presented to multiple award recipients for their years of membership in the Benevolent and Protective order of Elks of the United States of America, ranged from 5 years to 50 years of service.
The evening was capped by the presentation of plaques, jackets, City of Santa Clarita and County of Los Angeles Commendations for the Volunteers of the Year, Rob and Jill Forsberg, Citizen of the Year Donna Schmidt, Tall Elks of the Year, Mike Mazzetti, Frank Webster, and Charlie Handy, and then the Officer of the Year for the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge Judy Delaney.
The nights last award, the highest honor for a member of the Elks Lodge, Elk of the Year was presented to Ed Alvarez.
The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge #2379 has served the Santa Clarita Valley since 1968 and currently has over 850 members active in our local communities. March 5, 2024 – The Santa Clarita Elks 2379 lodge hosts Red Cross Blood drives every eight weeks on Tuesday between 10 AM and 4 PM. When you see the signs and Red Cross trucks in the parking lot as you drive by, pop in to Donate. We have friendly volunteers ready to check you in and assist you while you’re on site after your donation of live saving blood.

December 31, 2023: What a party! Food, dancing, fundraising gaming, beverages, all the ingredients for a fun time. With a little added atmosphere provided by the fireplace. The TVs were all on keeping track of New Year’s celebrations around the country.
DJ Greg did an outstanding job keeping the evening alive with his music and commentary as the night progressed. Great job from the kitchen crew making sure the buffet table was full throughout the evening. And as always, the bar staff was phenomenal serving up the best drinks.
The lodge Trustees wish to thank the lodge organizations and all the individual members for their prize donations. They were all amazing.

Mission complete for annual Angel Tree Project
December 11, 2023: Santa Clarita Elk #2379 as the completion of our Angel Tree Project that has benefited for 30+ years families from the Canyon Country and Palmdale offices of the Child and Family Center. This annual event delivers gifts for 30 families to both offices of the Child and Family Center. The lodge adopted and raised money for 30 families, close to 150 children and adults will have a blessed celebration thanks to Elks # 2379 and Emblem Club #459 !

Santa’s Helpers have everything ready for Santa and Mrs. Clause to greet and present toys and gifts provided by the Lodge. Some thirty children and their parents and grandparents enjoyed time visiting with the Clause’s.
SCV Young Marines Awards
December 9, 2023: Santa Clarita Elks Exalter Ruler Glenn Daniel, Co-Chairs Veterans Committee PERL Jeanette Fisher, Dale Turner attended the SCV Young Marines Awards Dinner
The award today was presented to Santa Clarita Young Marine, Gunnery Sergeant Anthony T. Eslao.
The award is called the “Sergeant Charles F. Meter Award”. Named after our 20th President who served in 2013. He was the first President to die in office after serving 11 months and three days. He expanded our support to the SCV Young Marines providing funds to families who could not afford the $500 to get their son or daughter into the program.
The Award not only recognizes the Young Marine who has distinguished themselve but also honors the memory of Charlie Meter.
Thanks again for all your support and helping us to show a strong working relationship between the Santa Claita Elks 2379 and the Los Angeles County Chapter, Association of Marines and Fleet Marine Force Corpsman.

November 15, 2023: Santa Clarita Elks # 2379 Veterans Committee delivered sweatshirt, sweatpants, $1000 in $25 gift cards, paperbacks book, and more were delivered to the VA Sepulveda care facility. The donations were headed up by Jeannette our Veterans Committee Chair. Also present were PER Julie Whitman, PERL Nancy Webster, and PER Mike Fisher.

November 11, 2023: On Veteran’s Day 2023 the Santa Clarita Elks 2379 hosted a Fundraising Crab Fest. There were 190 people in attendance for this favorite event. We enjoyed the company of those in attendance and everyone had “All the Crab They Could Eat”.
2023 Hoop Shoot
November 11, 2023: Great morning on November 11 at Canyon Country Community Center for this year’s Hoop Shoot. Jamie McKenna and over 20 volunteers made for another successful event. The best shooter made 22 out of 25 free-throws!
Last Round of 2023 for One Under Golf Club a Success
On October 26th, 2023 Twenty Eight golfers participated in the last scheduled Golf Outing at Knollwood Country Club in Granada Hills. This was the largest golf outing to date for the club lead by Leading Knight Wayne Edwards. Most where able to stay and enjoy the company of fellow Elks with common interests. In calendar year 2023 the One Under Golf Club (Defined as One Under a Tree, One Under Water, etc.) has contributed $548 towards the CHEMPI (California/Hawaii Elks Major Project, Inc. Veterans Luncheon
On Saturday 7 October , 2023 the Lodge Veterans Committee hosted a Veterans Luncheon to benefit all attending Veterans’. The event was catered by Committee Chairperson Jeannette Fishers daughter Victoria. The ceremonies during the event included the Pledge of Allegiance, Prayer, and trumpet music presented by Committee Co-Chairman Dale Turner. USMC MSgt, retired Philip Olivero presented a heartfelt speech to all in attendance about what our Military’s role in the history of our nation, and how Veterans are apart of that, including the challenges we face while in service and after our active service ends. The role we have played and continue to play to the nation and future. We were disappointed that our special guest, those living in Veteran Housing, and in the care of Sepulveda VA could not attend in the number expected due to transportation issues. Breakfast Fundraiser
On Sunday October 1, 2023 the Lodge hosted a Elks National Fund (ENF) fundraising breakfast. There where 60 members and guests that attended and raised $600 for the Lodge’s ENF account. This money is donated to the Grand Lodge and is returned in the form of Grants for Hoopshoot, scholarships, Veterans Events, and much more.

Celebrates Kay’s Birthday
On Tuesday night, September 26th, the Santa Clarita Elks members and friends, joined the Taco Squad in celebrating Kay Easley’s 85th Birthday. Kitchen Chairwoman Missy Handy arranged to surprise Kay with a cake and brownies by Lee Urqhart, and a card signed by many of the members that spend a lot of time with Kay each week. It was a fun special night for the lady that means so much to our lodge. Kay’s daughter Katherine, and her husband, made their first surprise visit to the lodge to help celebrate. Thank You Kay! Happy Birthday!

Labor Day 2023 Potluck was a good turnout. The Lodge Barbeque Team prepared Tri-tip, Chicken, and Pork Ribs. Members brought their favorite dishes and desserts. Before we dined there was a prayer and flag salute.
Santa Clarita Elks 2379 support Family Fun Night, at the Santa Clarita Child & Family Center.
A Beacon Grant was used to host the annual Family Fun Night, at the Santa Clarita Child & Family Center. Earlier in the day members under the direction of Elks Member Stacy McKenna prepared 300 backpacks filled by Elk members with School Supplies. The Elks lodge provided and prepared dinner for the participates.

ENF Fundraiser in Lancaster
On Saturday June 24, 2023 we gathered at Bravery Brewing Co. in Lancaster for a late lunch before attending the Pecos League Baseball Game at The Hanger in Lancaster. The Lancaster Sound Breakers hosted the Vallejo Seaweed. The Sound Breakers were the victorious, scoring 4 to 3. The purpose was to raise funds for the Elks National Foundation (ENF) by selling tickets online. We sold 34 tickets to the baseball game, with proceeds going to the ENF. A great time was had by all those that attended. Thanks for attending Lodge Adviser and Metro District Leader Greg Peale and wife Charlene, Burbank ER Naomi Roman, PER Anthony Roman, Santa Clarita PER Steve Graham (ENF Chairman) and First Lady Lauren, Treasurer Judy Delaney, Chaplain Danise Davis, Webmaster Michael Angulo and wife Kathleen celebrating their twenty ninth Anniversary, and many other members.

CHEA Winning Ritual Team Santa Clarita Elks 2379
Our Officers competed in the Ritual Finals on Friday 5/19/2023 at the CHEA State Convention. They had the highest score as shown above in the Division round to move into the Finals. It was learned Saturday 5/20/2023 that they won the finals and now moving forward to Minneapolis for Grand Lodge.
Our team had five All State performers, Glenn Daniel, Exalted Ruler, Wayne Edward, Leading Knight, Scott Bickle, Lecturing Knight, Jay Larkins, Esquire, Ilia Piedra, Inner Guard.

On Saturday 6/24/2023 the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge 2379 will be gathering for a pregame tailgate at Bravery Brewery that will offer pizzas, charcuterie and craft beers at 3 PM.
